HURRICANE PLAN
Print this Page Print this Page

The purpose of this plan is to address the safety of life and property of Fisher Island in the event of a hurricane threat. This plan is for internal use by Fisher Island Community Association, Fisher Island Holdings, and Fisher Island Club only. Since every hurricane presents new and different contingencies, the procedures outlined in this manual are intended to be a guideline to action and not an all inclusive or inflexible strategy. This plan was created in association with Miami Dade Fire Department, Miami Dade Office of Emergency Management, United States Coast Guard and Miami Dade Police Department; it is designed so that it may be revised annually or on an “as needed” basis.

The majority of this plan is organized in four phases outlining the order of occurrence:

  • Hurricane watch
  • Hurricane Warning
  • Hurricane Landfall
  • Recovery/Damage Assessment

Also listed in this plan are the following:

  • Emergency Numbers
  • Checklists
  • Maps
  • Shelters

This manual is not to be copied or reproduced in anyway without the written consent of the Fisher Island Community Association. For more information about the contents of this manual please contact the Fisher Island Public Safety Department at (305) 535-6065.
